Think of this: you're managing your startup's product roadmap in Notion because it's beautiful, flexible, and makes you feel organized.
But then your CFO asks for a budget report with fancy pivot tables, and suddenly you're copy-pasting data that takes many hours of your life.
Imagine spending around 3 hours every Monday morning updating your Google Sheets dashboard with data from your Notion project database. That's 156 hours per year of pure digital drudgery.
Is there any solution? There's actually a way to make your data sync automatically, allowing you to multitask while doing other essential things. And we are talking about the resynced.io solution.
Benefits of connecting Notion and Google Sheets
Notion
- Looks amazing
- Very flexible
- Makes databases fun
- Perfect for team collaboration
Google Sheets
- Formulas that can solve all the problems
- Pivot tables that slice data easily
- Plays well with every other tool
The only problem is that they speak different languages. And you need to find a quick solution to get them together.
When to sync the Notion with Google Sheets
Weekly Reporting
Your boss wants weekly reports, but they use Google Sheets, while your team works in Notion. Instead of becoming a human copy-paste machine, let the tools sync automatically.
Budget Management
Track expenses in Notion's beautiful interface, but your accountant needs everything in Sheets for those complex calculations. Here you are, two-way sync saves the day.
Client Presentations
You've got 30 minutes until that big presentation and need to show real-time project progress. Connect your Notion project tracker to a Google Sheets dashboard and watch the sync happen.
Team Collaboration
Half your team loves Notion, while the other half prefers Sheets. Instead of picking sides, let everyone work in their preferred tool while keeping data synchronized.
How to connect Notion to Google Sheets
Step 1: Set up Notion and Google Sheets integration
Head over to resynced.io and select your leading performers: Notion and Google Sheets.

For Notion:
- Click "Add new connection"
- Choose the pages you want to share (be generous — your future self will thank you)
- Grant permissions
For Google Sheets:
- Connect your Google account
- Select your spreadsheet
- Pick the specific sheet tab
If your database doesn't show up immediately, wait a little bit. Notion's API can sometimes take a few minutes to load. Give it 5-10 minutes and hit refresh.
Step 2: Configure data filters for Notion Google Sheets sync

You don’t need all the data. Use filters to sync only the good stuff.
Example Let's say you're tracking your company's hiring status:
In Notion, you might filter for:
- Status = "Interview Scheduled"
- Department ≠ "Intern Applications"
- Date Created > Last 30 days
In Google Sheets, remember that each cell has its data type:
- If your budget column shows "$1,000" but stores it as text, filter by "Text equals", not "Number equals"
- Case sensitivity matters: "Done" ≠ "done" (computers are picky like that)
Always check your actual data. If you're filtering for "Marketing" but your data says "marketing," you're going to have a hard time.
Step 3: Set up two-way sync between Notion and Google Sheets
Determine which data to retain and which items to delete.
- One-Way Sync (Notion to Sheets):
Notion creates new items → They appear in Sheets ✅
Sheets creates new items → They stay put ❌
- Two-Way Sync:
Anyone can create anywhere → Everything syncs everywhere
- Update-Only Mode:
Only updates existing items
Step 4: The matching session
Time to match your columns. Map Notion properties to Google Sheets columns the way you like it.
The formula column tip: When syncing a Notion formula that calculates reading time, inform resynced.io about the data type it produces (number, text, date). Notion formulas are shape-shifters.
Sync direction choices:
- One-way (Notion → Sheets): For reporting dashboards
- Two-way: When both teams need to make changes
- One-way (Sheets → Notion): When Sheets does the heavy calculations
Step 5: Sync time
Hit "Save and Run" and watch your data start its synchronization.

What happens next:
- Existing items get matched and updated
- New items flow according to your rules
- You get more free time back
