What is active synchronization and item in sync?

A synchronization is active if it successfully runs at least once in the past 24 hours (from 12 am to 12 am UTC).

An item in sync is a unit of data (e.g., an item in monday.com or a row in Google Sheets) kept in sync by one of your active synchronizations.

Counting items in a synchronization

For each synchronization, the system records the highest number of items synced within a 24-hour period (from 12 AM to 12 AM UTC).

Even if some items are later deleted later that day, the system still counts the peak number of synced items for that day.

When syncing between apps (like monday.com and Google Sheets), the system counts items based on the app with the larger dataset.
For example:

  • If monday.com has 200 items and Google Sheets has 100, the system counts 200 items.
  • If both later have 300 items, the system counts 300 items for that sync.

Daily reset of limits

All your limits reset every day at 12 AM UTC.

For example, if you’ve created 10 synchronizations syncing 600 items, those numbers stay the same until the reset, even if you delete a sync or reduce items during the day. After the reset, everything starts fresh.

Enabled vs. Disabled Synchronizations

  • Enabled synchronizations are active and count toward your daily limit.
  • Disabled synchronizations don’t count unless you run them manually.

For example:
If you have 10 synchronizations but only 6 are enabled, only those 6 count as active.

However, if you manually click “Sync Now” on one of the disabled ones, it becomes active and counts too, bringing your total to 7.

Once a synchronization runs (manually or automatically) at least once in 24 hours, it counts toward your daily limit. Any additional runs that day don’t increase the count.
